I, along with many other people, have been supporting Sharon on her quest and dream to raise funds for the less privileged. November 2014 at our 35th Reunion, Sharon mentioned that she didn’t have a partner for her walk as he had other plans. Impulsively, along with Karen and Janet, I said “I’ll go with you!”
Well, the Monday after the Reunion it was confirmed and the wheels started turning. It wasn't easy saving as there were a number of challenges, which we all have. But with sacrifices made and knowing what the ultimate goal is, I persevered.
I started training in earnest, determined to make a difference in a child’s life while enjoying another part of the world.
I was really very excited to do this journey with 3 other very good friends, and thank goodness we get on very well.
I know what it’s like to sacrifice time and money when you have children that are still dependent on you. Both my children had completed their schooling so it made it a little easier to leave them to their own devices while I was away for the walk. Sacrifice comes easy so it I could selfishly sacrifice in another way by giving to children who are less privileged.
